This photo is from one of my first tryout Silhouette pictures. The secret is you must have a big contrast in lighting with your object and background. For me, I was taking this picture inside my house, and against a very bright sunlight outside my windows . But be careful if you take picture against the sun, it may hurt your eyes!

However, I think good photo is not only because of those scientific number, but taken from your heart. Something that you want to capture, something that has been in your life.
