Too good to be true? 10TB cloud storage service weiyun 微雲 from Tencent 騰訊

Today I read a news about Tencent 騰訊 will be offering 10TB cloud storage service weiyun (微雲) for internet users. It will be working like dropbox, but 10TB data for real? My mac pro only has 4TB.. haha if I have 10 TB data on cloud, will that be sync and filled up my disk quick? it is crazy.. I wonder how it works!! This is unreal..

Whoever design and plan this service should rethink for the real situation.. unless their service is for enterprise, I don’t see why I will put 10TB data on cloud..

Lets say I fill up 10TB, and want to sync that data to my computer: I assume my average download speed will be about 50Mb/s which is about 6MB/s and every minute will be about 36MB, every day will be about 50GB.. 1TB=1024GB, so about 20 days for 1TB, 10TB will be equal to 200 days… 7months? great! haha.. and in fact, how many energy that will be consumed… crazy..

I think it is just a gimmick that attract user but unreal!! 😛
