Kyosho MR-03 – Newbie Report

Yesterday I went to Monkok with my friends who visiting from US, and saw some really cool RC kits while we walking by the “Model Street” (The street that selling many model toys). Those little things were just too attractive, and end up I have spent about $2k(HKD) to purchase a set of them(Mr-03 Chassis set, R/C Transmitter, a auto scale collection body). Even though I am a newbie to this, I thought that would be just another “toy” since I had experience how to assemble some 1/10 R/C car before when I was kids(!). Also, I assumed it did not require assembly much and all I had to do was to put the wheel and body on it.

However, I was wrong! I would say that the MR-03 Chassis Set is probably an advance set because it is not something that you can “plug and play”. First of all, I was like a kid getting a new toy and opened it right away and took the auto scale body and wheels apart from it’s “stand” and trying to put it on the MR-03 Chassis when I got home. What happened was the body did not fit at all! (that’s something always happen when you are not reading instruction menu! haha!) I scratched my head so hard because the shop owner selling me the car assured that body must fit. SO, WHATS WRONG!??

Therefore, I actually started reading the instruction menu(haha). Ok, first, there is actually a spec on the auto scale collection body, and it said “MR-03, Narrow, RM” and “MR-015RM”.

I had no idea at first, but found this:

ok, so it meant that my MR-03 can be fit into any Auto Scale Collection body. Then why it did not fit my MR-03?? It is because the default type for MR-03 is an “MM”, and the Auto Scale Collection body type is “RM” ( I assume RM is rear motor style??). Therefore, I need to follow the instruction to change my MR-03 Chassis from “MM” type to “RM” type. Also, I believe that I also have to change my suspension type to “narrow” because the menu has mentioned “The factory installed suspension is the wide version.” (I really read the instruction line by line this time!)

ok ok. Now I get it. It also started getting me addicted after i read the whole instruction menu because those little detail that this small R/C can do! I can even connect it to the computer to adjust it! wow!

Now I can go back and assemble it :-), and gonna share some pictures here to show you what I got!

The tiny MR-03 Chassis set is smaller than my palm!

The first body I bought:

I am an Initial D Fan! So, I bought this and going to put it on MR-03 later 🙂

My Chassis is still in “MM” type, so my auto scale body does not fit yet!
